I knew you were going to Stockholm Pride this year and i would love to have been there, but i couldn’t make it because I didn’t have the money..
Some of my friends went to hear you speak and I saw you on TV. I regret so hard that I didn’t make the opportunity to meet you and hear you out.

As for your trans friends. When I started my transition it was the same for me because I did it so long ago and there was really no one doing this. So the friends I had hated me for having a sex change. I think there is a really good trans awareness group in stockholm.You should find out how to go to meetings and hang out with them.

My given name is X, but my chosen name is XX. I am an 18 year old Pre-T Pre-Op Transman. I live in Florida with my parents, my little brother, and my little sister. I am attending a local college to get a degree in hopes of having a career with the FBI.
I’ve been struggling with my gender and sexual identity since I was about 14. I’ve been thinking about possibly becoming FTM since I was 16. I’ve been straight, bi, and lesbian. I’ve settled on being pansexual because I’ve realized that someone’s gender doesn’t mean anything to me personally. I’ve been classifying as Bigender for the past few months and it’s set my mind at ease a little bit. I can go out in public (by myself or with my siblings) and pass as a guy easily. It makes me feel so good. But if someone calls me ‘sir’ when I’m out with my parents, they shoot me a scathing glare and I immediately correct the person.
So as you can probably guess, I still haven’t told my parents about my plans yet, so this is where I need your guidance.
I’ve been subtly dropping hints during the past year; I’ve been wearing more guy clothing, I’ve been binding my chest, I’ve stopped wearing make up, and I’ve stopped shaving my legs and armpits. Also, because of genetics, the women in my family tend to have lots of facial hair, so I’ve been letting it grow out as much as possible (before my mom threatens to take things from me and I have to shave). I’ve got a nice goatee if I do say so myself. :)
That aside, I’ve decided that I’ve danced around the issue enough and that as part of my New Years resolution, I’m going to sit my parents down and tell them the truth; everything from the beginning. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on what kind of wording I should use or certain phrases I should avoid. I’ve asked a few other transguys and they’ve been pretty helpful. I was just hoping maybe you had a few things you wanted to add in for me.
I’d really appreciate your help. You’ve really helped boost my confidence in many ways. You’ve made me believe that I can really do this and be okay. I’m tearing up as I write this because this decision means so much to me. It’s been the past 4 years of my life and I’m suffocating trying to hide.

It is great that you are coming to a decision to finally come out. You are an adult and you need to start living life for yourself and on your terms. I also understand the part of telling your parents. This is not easy and they really seem like they might not get the whole transgender thing. With that said you need to educate them. There is tons of info out there and also if you like you can show them the PSA I did with my Mom it might help just bit,because my Mom is such a “Mom” haaa

The advice I would give you is just try to be strong. They might resist. My parents did in the beginning only because they did not understand. I think since you have been dressing this way and growing facial hair they might have some idea so it might not be such a shock to them.
Most important is that you understand this is all about you and not them. They might think that but you need to let them know that and also that there are many many people like yourself in the world and that it is normal to feel the way you do.
